After completing her Cyberpsychology (MSc) degree, Ruth has developed Sersha, an interactive game that teaches families about navigating social media safely.
TikTok & The Self
Ruth completed and received a first class honours in Cyberpsychology (MSc).
While studying, Ruth developed an acute interest in how humans interact with technology and how this interaction helps establish a sense of presence. Her thesis focuses on TikTok and how adults use it to present themselves. She found some interesting results that differ from previous psychological research. The main variables in the study were self-presentation and self-concept clarity, and the research explored presentation related to augmented reality filters, lip-synching effects, and text-to-speech effects.
Her findings challenge the results of previous psychological research and leave readers wondering how social media will evolve in the future.

Cyberspaces & Sersha
After finishing her degree, Ruth writes about Cyberpsychology, entrepreneurship and creativity on her blog. Her aim is to help people navigate the online world effectively and incorporate creativity into their daily life.
Ruth went on to create Sersha, social media safety training for pre-teens, simplified. Sersha is a game designed to protect pre-teens from the risks they may encounter on social media, while providing education to parents.
