After completing her Cyberpsychology (MSc) degree, Ruth works full-time on Sersha, social media safety training for pre-teens, simplified.

TikTok & The Self

Ruth completed and received a first class honours in Cyberpsychology (MSc).

While studying, Ruth developed an acute interest in how humans interact with technology and how this interaction helps establish a sense of presence. Her thesis focuses on TikTok and how adults use it to present themselves. She found some interesting results that differ from previous psychological research. The main variables in the study were self-presentation and self-concept clarity, and the research explored presentation related to augmented reality filters, lip-synching effects, and text-to-speech effects.

Her findings challenge the results of previous psychological research and leave readers wondering how social media will evolve in the future.

CyberSpaces Blog & Sersha

After finishing her degree, Ruth writes sporadically about Cyberpsychology on her blog, CyberSpaces. She offers Cyberpsychology consultancy to businesses, helping them reach their short and long-term goals by offering customised discovery calls.

Full-time Ruth works on Sersha, social media safety training for pre-teens, simplified. Sersha is a game designed to protect pre-teens from the risks they may encounter on social media, while providing education to parents.

She has won several awards and has received funding from Enterprise Ireland to develop and scale the solution.
